A Little About Me…

When my 4 year old told me he was a girl inside, I said "Be who you are." With our love and support she is living authentically for the first time. So am I.

People always ask me about what life will look like. What will happen? What does the future hold for my gender non-conforming child and for me? I tell them, "Once I get there I'll let you know." It's a step by step adventure with winding roads, untravelled paths, significant challenges, wonderful views, meaningful connections and soaring heights. It's real life.

Some days I feel like I am shouting from the rooftops, calling out for help into the night. At times the role of parent and advocate is a lonely one, but I cling to the fact that we are not alone.

Once I started writing this blog I quickly learned that we are part of a loving and supportive community of people that have reached out from the farthest reaches of the world to my very backyard to share their stories and lives with me. I will be forever grateful for all of your love, support and collaboration.

Our first children's book will be published this fall. The next book in the series tackles bullying in a genuine, positive, and proactive way. More details at www.JenniferCarrBooks.com.

This past year has inspired me to write a book for us older folks too. Journey with me as I reflect on my days as a private flight attendant for celebrities, how I became aware of gender identity, what it is like parenting a gender non-conforming child and the steps I took to transform my life from an addict filled with self hatred to a balanced, loving, genuine and often humorous human being. I'll keep you posted.
