I am fortunate to find myself working on this documentary film project with Dennis Lavery and Jenn Burleton of TransActive as an advisory board member and a participant. I believe that “small words… little voices” will be a pivotal point in history when people can open their hearts and minds toward gender diverse (transgender, gender variant, gender aware, gender non-conforming, gender fluid, gender queer… whatever you or the child identifies with) youth. The care with which this group is approaching the subject, the families and especially the children astounds me and gives me such hope for the future.

BirchSwinger Films & TransActive present “…small words”
A new documentary about children, their families and gender.

This event will provide parents and others the chance to ask questions of both the filmmaker and TransActive staff regarding potential participation in the film itself, or general information that may pertain to children who do not experience or express their gender identity in ways that conform to cultural expectations or stereotypes.

wishing we could attend and thanking you for the role you have taken on to help enlighten others so that our beautiful children have a better tomorrow.
Did you happen to see Lisa Ling`s- Our America- on the OWN network? It aired feb 22 and was about Transgender lives. A couple of the people were children and I think one of them was in First grade.
Hi C. – I set the DVR yesterday for the Lisa LIng segment, but haven’t been able to watch it yet. I know the parents/ child that were featured and I’m really excited to see how the subject matter is being handled. I had a bad experience with a producer for Oprah last year and refused to be on their show so it makes me wonder, but it’s a new day and a new network. Always trying to look on the bright side! Best, Jen
Do you have any idea if ‘Small Words’ is available for purchase and where it can be found or if not when it may be available?
Thanks
