All You Need is Love

I find myself singing an old familiar Beatles song and counting my blessings today.

It sums up just about everything that is in my heart and on the horizon.

We’ve got one shot to make it right today. Let’s choose love.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time - It's easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

  1. I’ll second that!

  2. Having grown up with the Beatles, and having most of their albums, bought when introduced (sorry, I’m really that old…), I’ve always been amazed at the longevity of their songs, not just as songs but as simple truths. And somewhat sadly, not said or sung any better since. Their individual, collabrative and collective insight into people and being human is hard to beat. But then that’s my generation.

A little off-topic. I remember my parents’ comments about “rock” music, some of it from the Beattle and Rolling Stones, so one day I played them CSN&Y’s first album. My Mom loved it, until that is, I showed her the inside photo of the group, but later she realized the point of my demonstration, it’s not about looks but who you are as a person that matters, even expressed in song.

Thanks for the reminder. It’s what you’re doing with your children. What more could they ask? Despite all they think they want, love is all they really need. It changes everything now and forever. Whether they see it or know it now or not, they will and thank you. And then share it with others. That’s one of your gifts to them.

    • I love the way you put that Scott. They are pretty timeless and can conjure some of the best memories of my life when I think of it.

I recall my sister playing Dust in the Wind to my Dad that was against most rock music. He fell in love with the song and always cranked it up when he heard it in the car. I didn’t get it back then, I was too young, but it meant a lot to my sister that he could embrace something she really enjoyed. Good memory. Best- Jen

  3. This world needs a lot more love in it and we do have the capability. We just lack the sincerity and selflessness in our lives to make it happen. It is such a simple concept but we resist or we place barriers that we will not cross. What exactly is love anyway? Well it is a complete lack of self. There is no ‘I’ in love. The ultimate expression of love necessitates a complete denial of self. Jesus showed us the way. Love
